Lead Pre-K/Kindergarten Teacher
Position Summary:
-
Nature Connect seeks an experienced, collaborative, passionate and capable individual to grow and develop Farm School programs.
-
The lead teacher is responsible for managing the application of an age-appropriate, nature-based curriculum for 3-6 year olds enrolled in an outdoor farm school.
-
Model a healthy relationship with and curiosity for the natural world
-
Understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating learning environment.
-
Skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children and resolve parental concerns.
Qualifications:
-
MA, BA, teaching certificate or AA in Early Childhood Education or Environmental Education
-
1 year min teaching experience, ideally in nature-based education programs
-
Certified CPR and basic first aid or willing to obtain certification
-
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
-
Passionate about nature-based early childhood education
-
Comfortable working with children with differing developmental needs
-
Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
-
Warm and caring personality - friendly and approachable to children and families

Substitute Facilitator Requirements:

You love being with children
-
You have a strong connection with nature
-
You are inherently positive, energetic, curious, and kindhearted
-
You are thoughtful, alert, aware, and able to keep children safe in the outdoors
-
You are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
-
You are comfortable sitting on the ground, getting dirty, handling insects, and other small creatures
-
You are interested in learning/further growth in naturalist studies and mentoring
-
You are curious and able to learn new ways of interacting with children
-
You are solid in yourself and able to interact with children and parents with love and respect
-
You are physically fit and able to crouch, dig, climb, hike, and carry up to 40-50lbs
Qualifications:
While it is not necessary to have all of these skills, they would be helpful.

You have worked with kids
-
You have worked with nature-based programs
-
You have nature/primitive skills training
-
You are currently certified in CPR/First Aid for children and adults
